Nice But!!! May 18, 2010 All Access Customer 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The tv would deserve a five star for the first year. The second year break out your wallet! My remote eye on this set gave out, so I will have to put in another hundred bucks. At first the tv would not come on. The problem for some reason reset and fixed it self. No support from Coby to speak of. So you will be on your own. NICE FEATURES,GOOD SOUND, GREAT PICTURE. However I probably would not purchase again.
32 in Colby televsion March 13, 2010 Emma Johnson (Macon, Georgia) I am really enjoying my new 32 in. Colby television. It fits great in my entertainment center. I will be ordering another one soon.
Broken sound outputs...twice March 3, 2010 G (On A Boat) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The first order from amazon had broken RCA outputs that would not output any sound. After 30 min on the Coby customer support line hey said my TV was broken. So I returned it and ordered another one. THE SECOND ONE also had the same problem!! Coby customer support told me the same thing, the outputs are broken and said Amazon got a bad batch... Coby is junk
Great TV, Great Price January 13, 2010 Lela White I bought this TV three months ago, bought the extended warranty because I was skeptical about the price (I bought it for $299). My fears were unwarranted. Hooking my Xbox 360 and DVD player up to it was a snap. Navigating through the different input options is simple and any questions I had about setting it up were simple to solve using the instruction booklet. The only problem I had with it was being able to access the channel set up. When I first set up the channels it worked great, but a few days later my antenna wasn't working properly and I needed to adjust it but the I couldn't access that menu. After messing around with the controls I finally worked it out; it wouldn't have been so frustrating if there were tips in the booklet. Over all it works fabulously and is a great value for the money. I'm purchasing a second one for my bedroom.
Wasn't sure about Coby brand but overall pretty impressed. December 18, 2009 Kevin M. Woolery (Omaha, NE) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My wife had a portable DVD player by Coby. The thing felt like junk and ended up basically breaking in half. She also won an under the cabinet DVD player by Coby that has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years now. So when looking into buying a Coby brand TV, I was definitely sceptical. We stumbled upon this TV at a local store on Black Friday. The price tag was at an astonishing $249. They had one on display and we thought it looked pretty nice. Piano black finish on the outside and the picture, even though only 720p, looked quite nice. We could hardly pass up the opportunity to purchase a 32" LCD HDTV for $250. Getting it home and unpackaging was simple. We had not purchased an HDMI cable yet but hooked it up to our digital cable box via component cables and thought the picture was fine. We ordered an HDMI cable off Amazon (less than $6 for a 6ft cable) and received it less than a week later. We switched out our cable box for an HD box, hooked it up via HDMI, and I must say, for a 32" HDTV that was less than $300, I could not be happier. The clarity is great, the darks look dark, and the picture is pretty vibrant when needed.
The remote control is pretty basic. But other than to turn it on, I have no need for it. I have the TV hooked up to an old surround sound system so I don't use the TV's sound. Although before I had it hooked up to the surround sound I thought the sound was sufficient for a smaller room.
When hooked up to a PC the picture looks pretty good as well. The only suggestion I would have is to use the HDMI connection (if your video card supports it) rather than the VGA connection. I tried both and must say the HDMI looks much better and fits the screen better.
I've yet to hook up my PS3 to this TV as I have it hooked up to our 50" Samsung and didn't feel the need to. Although, we did hook up the Wii to it, and even though Wii is not in HD, the picture does look quite a bit better than having it hooked up to a tube TV.
All in all, I am extremely satisfied with this TV. The picture is great, setup is relatively easy, and you can't find an HDTV of this size for less than $250. As I sit writing this review, I'm watching football on the NFL Network and it looks wonderful. I have also viewed college basketball, professional basketball, and UFC fights on Spike HD. Any sports fan will be more than satisfied watching sporting events on this TV.
As someone who is constantly looking at reviews online for purchases I am getting ready to make or just looking at something I might be interested in getting, I found the need to write one for this TV. I believe it will be worth your money to buy this TV and hopefully (time will tell) it will last you awhile.
The only complaint I have about this TV are the connections on the back of it. They are set up more like a monitor. Meaning, your connections are vertical rather than horizontal. I didn't find it that much of a problem, but it did take me a couple tries to figure out which connection was which. I have some experience in hooking up all kinds of electronics and usually have it done on the first try. With this TV and the connections on the back I found it a little confusing as to which were IN/OUT. After 3 or 4 times everything was working fine.
Great TV. Outstanding price. Looks great. Hope it lasts.
